Japanese toilet installation: plan your project

Before choosing a model, check the essentials of your installation with a professional.

1. Your project

Keeping your bowl? Explore electric bidet seats. Replacing your toilet? Compare floor-standing and wall-hung models.

2. Your waste outlet

Identify whether the outlet runs towards the wall or floor. Measure its centre position and compare it with the chosen model’s diagram. S-trap and P-trap refer to vertical and horizontal outlets respectively.

3. Available dimensions

Measure depth, width and height, allowing room for connections, use and maintenance. For a bidet seat, check the bowl shape and fixing centres.

4. Water and electricity

Requirements vary by model. Have supplies, pressure and flow checked against the product’s technical sheet and manual.

Wall-hung toilets: check the support frame

Check fixings, connections, maintenance access and equipment required for automatic functions. Ask for a configuration suited to your project.

What to prepare

  • The exact product name and version.
  • Photos of the installation and connections.
  • Dimensions and the waste outlet position.
  • Support frame references, where applicable.

This guide helps you prepare your project. It does not replace the manufacturer’s manual or an on-site check by a professional.
